Margret Duffy was a bookkeeper and passed out the last payroll when LAA closed , Bob ,George were in the shop. Ken was with the S-55s on the mail runs. Dick was a pilot.
Most the Hillberg kids have their certificates fixed wing .helicopter, and A&P IAs - inspired by the stories from LAA, Our dad (Ken) told us of a few tales , one where arrows were found stuck in a tail boom after a mail run , an old lady who complained constantly of low flying helicopters only to have a set of very strong bush glasses at her home, A sand blasted S-55 at Ontario after a wind storm, It was a history, Even met Igor Sikorsky when we were kids, Later I met Sergi Sikorsky on the debut of the LAFD Fire Hawk , What did I say? I was 18 years old and fresh out of Weaver Airline School when I was hired by LAAirways April 24, 1961. I started out as a Traffic Representative in Bob Hubley's office. Later opened the San Bernardino Heliport , then worked in the San Fernando valley as Sales Representative. In 1965 I moved to Orange County and eventually became District Mgr over Anaheim, New Port Beach and Whittier Heliports until Curtis B. Danning , Bankruptcy Court receiver shut us down Oct7, 1970
